We all arrived at the 'Parks' in Godmanchester and it was raining, luckily it seemed like it was going to be one of those days of passing showers and so it proved...
.Godmanchester won the toss and elected to bat, Michael Kay and David Carlaw, back from his week away, opened the bowling and batting immediately proved difficult.
The first wicket fell in the 7th over and then at regular intervals and despite some resistance lower down the order from Paul Jefferson (18) and Lawrie Marsh (15) Godmanchester could only muster 109 all out. The wickets being shared among the Ramsey bowlers 3 each for Kay and Rippington, 2 for Carlaw and 1 for Michael Cafferkey, there was also a run out.
The target of 110 it seemed was never going to be enough and Ramsey had a fast start particularly from Simon Cafferkey and when the first Ramsey wicket fell in the 4th over the score was already on 31, Jimmy Markland fell quickly but Simon and Luke Stewart took the score to 87 before Luke was out in the 17th over. Despite losing 1 more wicket Simon Cafferkey, who ended 64 not out, and Jon Cade saw Ramsey home to a comfortable 6 wicket win and another 20 points to keep the pressure on Wisbech at the top of the table.
