Matthew Slack Youth Development Officer Ramsey Cricket Club ![]() RCC have strengthened their Junior Development Pathways after being accepted into the Fenland Invitation Trophy. The Fenland Trophy was established in 1986 in order to make friendly but competitive cricket available to players of any standard outside the restrictions of the more formal county leagues. The recent accent being of encouraging clubs to enable colt players to make meaningful contributions in 'adult' match situations. RCC will be using this competition to provide Junior players the opportunity to play senior 'adult' cricket, and will be a great step between playing junior cricket and playing Saturday league cricket. With the move of our 3rd XI into a Sunday only Hunts League it means RCC will be providing 2 matches of cricket on both Saturday's and Sunday's. This along with having a strong junior setup, a ladies team, The GONADS and Turbo10 all on offer means we have cricket available to all ages, genders and ability. ![]() The 2014 DJ challenge will be a Triathlon (Swimming-Cycling-Walking) The challenge will once again be completed on a date yet to be set in late April (Home Game) and the Full detail of the challenge will be informed to the DJ-challenge site once the current neurological assessments have been done The sponsored challenge will be 50% for the Post-Polio syndrome Research fund (Headed up by Professor Young at the Liverpool Walton Centre where my treatment is currently being done) and 50% to Junior Coaching at RCC Stay tuned for further details in early 2014!!! ![]() We've once again been fortunate enough to be given the premium bag packing date at the Co-Op!!! This year we will be bag packing at Ramsey Co-Op on Sunday 22nd December from 10am to 4pm. Matthew Slack, head of the Junior Section at RCC said, "This is a great fundraiser for the club, with all monies donated going directly to help fund the junior section at RCC." As always we are looking for volunteers to help with the juniors players who will be bag packing on the day. If you can help out please contact Matthew Slack, email ramseyccjuniors2012@hotmail.co.uk or text 07918133170. "Help support your local club, RCC in the community" Please see the message below from the Ramsey Tennis Club, who are working hard to improve their sporting facilities for the people of Ramsey. Dear Tennis Club Members, WE NEED YOUR HELP IF YOU WANT FLOODLIGHTS YOU NEED TO WRITE THIS LETTER TODAY! The tennis club has submitted a planning application to Huntingdon District Council to put floodlights on the newly surfaced courts at the tennis club. As the courts are in the beautiful setting of the Ramsey Abbey School it is likely some concerns will be raised by English Heritage objecting to our proposal. In order to mitigate these concerns and persuade the planners to grant our application we will need your help to show a high level of local support and demonstrate the benefits to the local community. As the planning committee will ultimately have to decide between these two issues. The application is available for anyone to look at on the HDC Planning Public Access site www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk/planning, reference number: 1301586FUL. Please can you write a letter of support, I have attached a template which if you are short of time you can print off fill in and send (or scan and email to the address below) however if you have a few more minutes an individual letter would be greatly appreciated. Address letter to : Mr D Hincks, Planning Officer, Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3TN. Or email to developmentcontrol@huntingdonshire.gov.uk Include your name and address and the following reference number: 1301586FUL Floodlights will mean we can: · Provide a year round place to play for local young people, (this ties in with one of the identified objectives of the Ramsey Millions Partnership). · Everyone can play all year round (club members and members of the public) · We can Increase club activities such as playing in Join winter leagues and continuing week day clubnights · Provide junior coaching after school all year round. · Offer specialist tennis coaching to Abbey School pupils after school · Increase club numbers by offering better facilities · Increase club income … to pay for more coaching for members and juniors Other good Points to include: · Improving school facilities at no cost to the school · Site is not near residential properties therefore night light pollution should not be an issue. Please make sure you put your name, address and date on your letter. The planners will be particularly persuaded to support our project if we can demonstrate benefits to the local community particularly with respect to young people and health and fitness of the community in general. e.g offering activities to youngsters to keep them active. We will inevitably have to attend a planning committee meeting to try and persuade them if we can show the local community is in support this will greatly improve our cause. Even better if you can print some of the ready done letters off and get any Ramsey resident to sign one that would be fantastic. All letters must be received at the planning office by the FRIDAY 6th DECEMBER (2 weeks away). IF YOU WANT FLOODLIGHTS YOU NEED TO WRITE THIS LETTER TODAY! Thank you Tennis Club Committee ![]()
