Cricket preview: The Rams have hit top spot in Cambs Division One, but they won’t be getting carried away.
That’s the promise from 20-year-old skipper Taylor West who believes there will be plenty more twists and turns before the season concludes in September.
Ramsey went top after smashing St Ives by 167 runs last weekend, while previous leaders Wisbech were surprisingly losing to bitter rivals March Town.
“The Wisbech result was a real bonus,” West admitted. “We didn’t expect them to lose to March, but there is still a long way to go and there is not a lot between the sides.
“We play Wisbech in a couple of weeks so that could be a decisive game, but we have another tough one at Castor this Saturday so no-one is getting carried away.
“We thought we had a chance of success this season, but we felt we might be a bit young. We’re playing well though and enjoying the challenge.”
West led from the front last weekend with an innings of 89 and was well supported by Simon Cafferkey (84), Michael Kay (6-46) and Sam Rippington (4-15).
